	Flatfield compensation is used to compensate for uneven illumination and variation in the properties of the imaging lens. In order to calibrate Flatfield compensation the camera is pointed at a plain white object which may be front or rear illuminated.
When the Flatfield button is pressed the camera then calibrates itself accordingly. The image can now be introduced.

It is important to realize whilst this has many positive attributes it may only be used when the lens and illumination system are fixed or otherwise recalibration will be required.
